Everything old is new again at ICCS’s high school! Students in grades 9-12 showed up for the
first day of school on Aug. 13 sporting the iconic “IC popover,” — a part of
the high school uniform making a comeback after nine years. To commemorate the return of this beloved school
tradition, Paulette’s Restaurant surprised the high school girls by donating
200 of their own famous popovers — the warm, flaky and delicious kind, complete
with fresh strawberry butter — to enjoy on their first day. Several alumnae, many wearing their own
vintage “IC popover,” stopped by to welcome the girls and join in the first-day
fun.
The first day for high school students culminated with the time-honored tradition
of the Freshman Capping Ceremony in the Cathedral, during which each high
school freshman was “capped” with the “IC beanie” by a senior student who will
serve as her big sister throughout the school year.
