ICCS Rosary Honors 100th Anniversary of Fatima Apparitions

Immaculate Conception Cathedral School students and faculty gathered in the Cathedral on Friday Oct. 13 to pray the rosary in commemoration of the Centennial of Our Lady of Fatima.  Using a large rosary provided by the Knights of Columbus, more than 60 lower, middle, and upper school students each held a bead and started the appropriate "Our Father," "Hail Mary" or "Glory Be" while the entire school community joined in prayer.  One decade of the rosary was prayed in Spanish.  Father Robert Marshall, Parochial Administrator of the Cathedral parish, led the students in the Apostles’ Creed and in the closing prayer. He reminded students that the Blessed Virgin Mary, the “Lady of the Rosary” as she identified herself, appeared to Sts. Francisco and Jacinta Marto and their cousin Lucia Santos over the course of six months in 1917 – culminating with the “Miracle of the Sun,” witnessed by approximately 70,000 pilgrims exactly 100 years before Friday’s prayer.
