Senior Madeline "Maddie"
Kennel was recently named to the Commercial Appeal's Academic All-Star
list in the English and Literature category. She is the seventh ICCS student to
receive this honor in the 2015-16 academic year. A 16-year-old senior,
Madeline grew up in Kara, Togo in West Africa, where she and younger sister
Michael, an ICCS freshman, served alongside their family as missionaries.
A voracious reader with a love for
classic writers, Madeline is a top student with a keen intellectual curiosity,
exceptional communication skills and a strong work ethic. She holds a 3.773 weighted grade point average
and scored a composite ACT score of 27, with a 34 on the English section.
An aspiring writer, she is the author
of a blog, “Bush Child,” and participated for four years in National Novel
Writing Month, in which she wrote a 50,000-word novel each year. Madeline is a member of the Beta Club and
president of the ICCS French Club. She
also dabbles in theatre and recently performed in CBHS’ performance of “Golden
Boy.” Madeline plans to pursue college studies
in Diplomacy and Foreign Affairs.
