Immaculate Conception Cathedral School music teacher Linzie
Mullins received a Lucile Cornetet Individual Award for professional
development from The Delta Kappa Gamma Educational Foundation.
Mullins, who teaches preschool through eighth grade Orff Method music
at ICCS, will use the award to attend the Orff Level 3 Certification at
the University of Memphis.
Lynna Gene Cook, chair of the Educational
Foundation Board of Trustees, stated that the Foundation awards
approximately $50,000 annually to outstanding educators to enable them
to attend professional activities in their respective fields.
A bequest to the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International from the
Lucile Cornetet estate was the basis for establishing the Lucile
Cornetet Professional Development Fund in 2005. Miss Cornetet, a
long-time educator and Society member in Ohio, died in 2001.
The Educational Foundation supports and encourages intercultural
understanding and educational excellence. Established in 1964, the
Foundation is a non-profit organization located in the Delta Kappa Gamma
Society International Headquarters in Austin, Texas. The Delta Kappa
Gamma Society International, established in 1929, is an honor
organization for women educators in 18 countries.
