Senior Sophia Galella Receives Academic All-Star Honor

Immaculate Conception Cathedral School senior Sophia Galella has been named to the Commercial Appeal’s Academic All-Stars list in the English and Literature category.  The Academic All-Stars program recognizes senior Memphis-area high school students based on academic achievement, leadership and community service. Sophia has an intense enthusiasm for the classics and enjoys writing as a form of self-expression. She holds a 4.5 weighted grade point average and scored 32 on the ACT.  Currently enrolled in AP Literature, she is inquisitive and thoughtful in her study approach and uses literary theory to drive her own ideas. She is a member of the National Honor Society, consistently appears on the school’s Honor Roll and serves as Student Government secretary. Sophia balances her academic work and school commitments with a deep sense of family.  Although she volunteers with Schilling Gardens, Collierville Animal Shelter, Meals on Wheels and Catholic Charities, her love and care for her grandparents stands out. She visits them daily, often staying until early evening and assists them with cooking and housekeeping as well as errands such as grocery shopping.
