ICCS Students Celebrate Las Posadas

June LaPorta
This morning, ICCS students celebrated Las Posadas, a religious festival celebrated in Mexico and other Latino countries. Las Posadas, meaning "the inn," in English, commemorates the journey Joseph and Mary made from Nazareth to Bethlehem in search of a safe refuge where Mary could give birth to baby Jesus. Our older students reenacted Mary and Joseph's journey by visiting each classroom, knocking on the door, and being turned away. At the last stop, they were welcomed inside the manger. Students then gathered in Marian Hall, where they enjoyed taking turns to break piñatas. During lunch, all had a chance to sample authentic, homemade tamales prepared by Hispanic ICCS families.
